Christmas and the New Year are always known to be special for shopping malls like the Parks Mall as they prepare to woo customers with fantastic décor and magical experiences. But this year is a little different as the unending scourge of the COVID-19 pandemic has put a huge damper on Christmas and New Year.
At this time of the year, malls would have been decked out with enchanting decor and a mix of fun-filled activities with shopping delights, surprises and gifts lined up. But the excitement and joy have been watered down by strict social distancing and no-touch rules as the country battles the second wave of COVID-19.
City Wide has started decking out the Parks Mall ahead of the festive season. At 1.5 million square feet, the Parks Mall is one of the largest shopping and entertainment centers in Arlington, TX. It’s also the home of The Cheesecake Factory and Barnes & Noble, among other brands.
As well as being in tune with the traditional Christmas celebrations, the mall is decorated with stunning and flashy décor. Christmas themed hangings, snowflake panels, and façade lightings are just some of the elements kids could wish for.
“This year’s theme features a larger-than-life-size Christmas tree and contactless Santa, unlike the previous ones. Colorful and elegant décor with spectacular lights will be installed in the malls. Kids will pass by and wave as they go through Santa Land,” the building manager said.
“Our in-house team has conceptualized the décor and all the décor elements and are working with City Wide to realize their dream. Their crew is all geared up to elevate the mood of visitors with fascinating décor that reflects the true Christmas spirit and the hope for merrier times ahead,” he added.
Parks Mall had many options for Christmas decorations, but because of social distancing and controlled gathering requirements, they decided to go with something simple but memorable. The original plan was to install artistic pieces like sculpted golden reindeer at the bottom of the huge Christmas tree and welcome guests with frosty waves, exuding the grandeur and festive vibes at the entrance.
Santa’s sleigh will be laden with gifts and adorned with sparkling crystals. The façade lights will have floral wreaths, while walkways inside the shopping mall will be adorned with stars and snowflakes made from small crystals. All these will surely bring back all the good childhood Christmas memories.
COVID-19 has kept people off crowded spaces. By decorating the mall, the property manager hopes to bring smiles to families who have spent the last several months indoors due to the pandemic. Surrounded by wrapped gifts and gold baubles, a visit to the display will be an invigorating way to kick off the festivities.
City Wide assembled a crew of 15 skilled technicians with holiday decoration experience. Another crew will be cleaning up the windows and pressure washing the exterior. For the next two days, the decorators will be decking up the Parks Mall and putting the last touches on the massive building.
